Ecuador have only been represented in the World Cup once, which wasn't a very long campaign either. This took place four years ago. Now, a more confident team, able to qualify in third place in the South American league, behind Brazil and Argentina, Ecuador look to create some easy wins in the early rounds of the World Cup. However they had already lost to Poland in a friendly in 2005, and will need to learn from their mistakes. Also, they will no longer be able to rely on their high altitude home matches, which they fully use to their advantage, and have to play teams on more level terms.
